Cool, damp and dark. Half hour past when others have gone home. One man remains. My age, selling his goods. Maybe 3 items one could find out in a wooded area at the right season. I could buy what he’s selling for probably less than a single American dollar. First thing that comes to mind is “honest man”. For what he is willing to endure he could have easily stolen a set of hub caps and had many times the return for a tenth of the effort. Next thing, should I give him money? I ask myself, “Would this help him in the long run? What about the other 30 people each day I pass with the same issue? Could I give them all a dollar or two?”. Do the math. Feed a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, he’ll eat for a life time. I guess the question is, “How do I teach this individual something of value? What do I have to offer?”. That is what I am doing here. Trying to teach something of value to someone in need. My strength is in building and repairing. Churches in the United States enabled Andy Raatz to aquire a well drilling rig. He wants me to master it in order for me to teach Moldovans how to drill their own wells. By doing this we teach a much needed skill and provide much needed clean water. While doing this, it gives us a “foot in the door” to share with them what they really need. That is, the need for a saviour.
